A Little More About David
David grew up in Japan and was adopted by the Manocks in 1956 when he was 9 years old. His biological mother is Japanese and his father an American G.I. soldier. David is married to Bren and they have two adult children. Jonathan is in LA working for an Internet company and Maia is finishing her dual degree at OSU in physics and business. David was ordained a PCUSA pastor in 1975 and has served in 7 different churches throughout the West Coast. David did graduate work at 4 different seminaries having earned M.Div., MS MFT and a Ph.D. His Ph.D. degree research was an integrative (psychological and theological) study regarding the unconscious image of God. He teaches full time as an associate professor at George Fox University in the Graduate School of Counseling. David has a private clinical practice in Salem where he does both marriage & family therapy and individual psychotherapy. His hobbies include doing long distance motorcycle riding on his BMW r1200rt, jogging and watching Korean soap operas on Netflix. He has completed two motorcycle “Iron Butts,” 1000 mile ride in 24 hours: first a ride from Salt Lake City to Salem in 18 hrs. and second a ride from San Diego to Salem in 16 hrs. David is passionate about Lord Jesus Christ and loves to lift Jesus up through God’s Word. His vision is that Salem Ekklesia be a place of welcome where each person is accepted as they are and they grow in friendship to Jesus Christ.
